Spring 2024

Our “Pool Doctor”, Richard looks back to 1970 when his love affair with pools first started and reflects on the principles that remain today, some 54 years later, despite technological advancements. Elsewhere we have provided thoughts on the activities that should be considered during the Spring, ideas on pool covers and our support for the Willow Foundation. Finally, Ian, who joined us last Spring, provides an insight into his life and love of swimming pools.

Spring 2023

We have highlighted the benefits of essential ongoing maintenance to your pool and equipment, including changing the sand in your filter, re-grouting your pool and installing a UV Quantum unit. We conducted a customer “case study” where these improvements were made, analysing chemical usage on a before and after basis. As you will see the cost savings were incredible. Our “Pool Doctor”, Richard shares yet another amusing story from his 52 plus years in the pools industry.

Autumn 2022

With the cost-of-living crisis in mind, our Senior General Manager, Glyn shares some ideas for reducing running costs for pools and spas. In our regular “Pool Doctor” section, in conjunction with one of our clients we have explored the energy saving potential resulting from installing an air source heat pump. We also look at a unique way of making your own chlorine. Our “Pool Doctor”, Richard recalls another amusing incident from his 52 years plus in the pools industry.

In his first article, our new Senior General Manager details his background and outlines his aspirations for the future. Richard announces further success with two new Corporate Livewire awards, one at local level –  “Swimming Pool Contractors of the Year – Dorset 2021/22”, and the other a National award “Swimming Pool Service Provider of the Year”. In our “Pool Doctor” section we discuss the topic of water leakage from pools and explain our approach towards detection and repair.

And then there were two! In this edition we announce our 2nd recognition – RT Swimming Pool Services Limited has been awarded “Best Swimming Pool Services Provider – Southern England” for the 2021 UK Enterprise Awards! And we welcome our new Senior General Manager, responsible for Service and Maintenance. Our very own Pool Doctor, Richard shares some of his many experiences, including a couple of highly amusing stories. We also update on our chosen charity, Wave 105 “Cash for Kids”.

Spring 2021

We share the news that we have been named “Best in Swimming Pool Maintenance” in the Corporate Livewire South West England Prestige Awards 2021. We also discuss pH and Chlorine testing protocols during Covid-19 as highlighted in PWTAG’s recent Technical Note and in our regular “Pool Doctor” section we cover pool liner replacement, the benefits of Quantum Water Treatment Units which uses Nano Crystal technology and water clarifiers for crystal clear pool water.

In this newsletter we discuss the reasons why outdoor pools sometimes suffer algae infections during the summer months and also with winter approaching we flag the potential benefits of an alternate method of closing outdoor pools during the off-season known as active or semi winterisation. We have noted some ideas for improving and maintaining pools including “Heatsavr”, which is a liquid pool blanket, as well as the benefits for changing the sand in your filter and re-grouting your pool.
